During my recent solo stay at the Express Inn Weslaco/Mercedes over New Year’s, I found a blend of comfort and warmth amidst some notable shortcomings. The outdoor pool provided a refreshing escape, perfect for those balmy Texas days, and the complimentary breakfast featuring hot waffles was a delightful start to my mornings. I appreciated the friendly and responsive staff, always eager to assist—an oasis of kindness that reminded me of the warmth of home, despite being miles away. It was hard to ignore the less favorable aspects. The condition of the rooms left much to be desired, with cleanliness issues detracting from what could have been a serene retreat. Though I had intended to stay for four days, I ultimately checked out early, compelled to seek greater comfort elsewhere.
